Sachin Rawat
Sachin Rawat is a B.Tech. (CSE) from IIIT-Hydrerabad where during his final year he participated in the security Shootout competition organized by Microsoft India and after successfully clearing 3 technical rounds and interviews was ranked as one of the top 10 winners among more than 50,000 participants. He was the only student participant among the top 10. Subsequently he joined the ACE Security Team at Microsoft India where he has been providing application and infrastructure security assessment and consulting services to business units within Microsoft including MSIT, MSN, MSCOM, MGSI and MCS. His responsibilities with ACE Security Consulting team at Microsoft included:
1. Developing detailed threat models, performing security design reviews for complex mission critical applications and providing design/architecture guidance.
2. Conducting security code review for business critical applications.
3. Perform host and infrastructure review.
4. Help formulate security best practices and processes.
5. Deliver security trainings to Microsoft employees.
He has reviewed over 70 LOB applications built across Microsoft and has delivered security trainings with 600+ participants over multiple sessions. He is proficient with Microsoft technologies including .NET, COM, COM+, DCOM using programming languages C/C++, C#, VB.NET, SQL, XML and Javascript. He is also proficient with GNU C++, Java, Perl, Ruby and LAMP technologies which he picked up during his college days. He recently cleared the examination for CISSP certification and is awaiting the certificate delivery. He also holds MCP 70-340: Implementing Security for Applications with Microsoft Visual C# .NET. He was a Research Assistant with IIIT.s Centre for Visual Information Technology where he led the design and implementation of the IMOCR (Interactive Multilingual Optical Character Recognition) System for converting scanned images of documents in Indian languages to corresponding text. His work titled “A Semi-Automatic Adaptive OCR for Digital Libraries” was published at DAS 2006 - the Seventh IAPR (International Association for Pattern Recognition) Workshop on Document Analysis Systems, Nelson . New Zealand. He was elected for and led the Students Campus Life Council and was an active participant in student activities. He was also the Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Middleware Systems using J2EE, and IT-Workshop (involved teaching HTML, PHP, Perl, C++, Java, MySQL, Apache and Linux). He was a part of the 3 member team which qualified for the international phase of the CSIDC competition organized by IEEE.s Computer Society.
